Okay guys! So it's project time and we all know that some of us are a little worried when it comes to group projects. So for this week lets all take a look at some of the concerns we have and look at what were most/least excited about. We've all seen some of the examples of last years group video projects on Blackboard so lets show them what we can do and all work together to make this years projects the best and most inspiring to students.
Who knows maybe Cathy will make us all vanilla milkshakes when this is all over. I vote yes to that, who else thinks we should all get vanilla milkshakes when this is all said and done or do you have another preference?
(:

Have a great week guys!

  1. Love the pictures Anna! And I agree as well, I would love a vanilla milkshake. But as you said, some of us do have worries when it comes to group projects. The most common being one or two people will have to do all the work while the other one(s) just get credit. That doesn't concern me with my group, but what concerns me is when will have time to meet. My group has talked about when we could meet but we discovered all of us are very busy, so I have no idea when my group will be able to get together to work on this. i'm also worried about making our vision come out as we see it in our head. But I'm excited to teach people about who we choose and hopefully they learn something new!

  2. I think my biggest worry with this project is having time to meet with my group. Everyone is so busy with classes, jobs, etc. I'm having a hard time visualizing holes in my schedule where I have ample time to meet with my group and have good time to create an amazing product! I think this will require some extensive delegating and intense Facebook messaging! But we can do it! Love the picture!

    1. I agree along with all our busy schedules and I'm worried that we won't have enough group time to meet to truly make this what it has the potential to be. A huge concern for me is that our imagination is thinking too large and we won't be able to follow through with completing it. But, I have faith in us all!

  3. I am always team milkshakes but I think we have to stay true to what we have learned in class and try new flavors! Butterfinger shakes anyone? As Victoria and Morgan have expressed time is a big worry we all probably have. It is hard to find time to do everything. I am just hoping that we are able to create a quality project without rushing to get it completed. I wish there were more hours in the day so that I could truly devote a good amount of time to cool projects like this one.

  4. I'm mostly concerned with the availability of my group as well. I know there are some days I'm not available, and I'm not alone in that. I know everyone's group is probably feeling the same way. I just feel its a bit rushed, especially with the my story being due Monday night.

  5. Like many others, I also worry about having enough time to finish this project. I know that everyone, including myself, has hectic schedules. Therefore, it will be difficult to find time for the entire group to meet and work on the project. Hopefully, there will be times when everyone in my group is free, so we can all work together. If this can happen, in my group and in others, I know that these projects will be great! Good luck with group projects everyone!

  6. Time is always a factor to consider when it comes to group projects. When there are large groups it is hard to find time for everyone to meet together at once. Even when everyone is willing to participate, the responsibility of the project still falls on one or two people because of some peoples lack of prioritizing. It always comes down to the last minute and one or two people in the group has to take responsibility for the project or it won't get done and everyone suffers. I hope this does not happen with my group and we can all make sacrifices in order to meet together to work cohesively but in the past this has been a common reoccurring problem.

  7. Currently our groups major concern isn't time management we have luckily worked around everything and found a way to make this project work, our biggest concern is trying to incorporate an ASL video within the actual video itself. We've tried looking into a lot of different viedo software programs and it seems like it's going to be VERY difficult if not impossible to do it how we would like too. We've talked to the Noel studio asking for their help but they said very little free software actually offers the program we would need to do this.... If anyone else finds anything will you please let us know? Thank you!!

  8. I am also looking into this as I believe they have the capability of doing this with software they have in the ASL lab in Wallace. I have emailed to ask some questions. I'll continue to seek out support for this technical aspect of the project. I have seen students do it in a variety of ways and SO OFTEN students are much more tech savvy - so I'm looking forward to hearing from others on this as well.

  10. As with the others, I am very concerned about meeting with my group regularly and getting the project done with everyone's participation. My biggest concern though sits in making a video that contains all the different elements that are necessary while being entertaining, educational, and impressive. I am not a very technology driven individual, so combining all of these elements seems very scary and challenging to me. If things end up working out (as I'm sure they will), I know I will learn a lot that I can further apply in my other education classes.

  11. As others have said, I am concerned about making time to meet with my group and learning the technology aspects of this project. I work, have clinic, and classes and usually don't have much time throughout the day. I am horrible with technology so hopefully people in my group can help me out with that. We will make it work though and create a wonderful project!

  12. I'm not usually a fan of group projects because I'm so introverted that it's hard to work with others, even though I know it is an important part of life. As for other concerns, I think that someone else said it, but a concern is having all of our group together at once to work on the project and then being able to work on the project and get it done the way we want. I really liked the breakout spaces in the Noel Studio, I might try those sometime.

  14. I love group projects! I love being interacted with others and I love hearing everyone's ideas! With everyone else I am also worried about availability with my group. I know for me I work Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and then classes on Tuesday Thursday. I know this probably wont be an option but maybe we could take a class period or half of the class to work on the project with our group that way we know everyone is available. just an option!

  15. I'm a junior here at EKU and have never done a group project. I'm really excited to do this because all my group members have a lot of great ideas and such. We all want to succeed with this project and want to make it memorable. I am concerned about meeting up with everyone but I am sure we will all figure it out.

  16. How I feel about group projects always depend on the group members. In the past I have had some awesome group members, and some not so great group members. But the group I have now (shout out to Anna, Dylan and Aaron) are very committed and we all want to contribute something to our group. :) We have been able to figure out ways to make progress without all meeting at once, so that helps a lot with scheduling conflicts. Good luck to everyone on your project!!

  18. I love the pictures you used, first off. Second, I feel fairly confident that my group will do well with this project. The only thing that is difficult is scheduling a time that everyone can meet. Because of this I am concerned that we will have trouble creating the video but I am not worried. Good luck everyone!

  19. I really like my group and think that we will get our project done and that it will be successful. everyone contributes and I think the only hard thing will be trying to get all of our schedules together so that we can meet.

  20. Getting together and getting it done is my biggest worry, but I like our group and I think we will definitely get it down and hopefully get it to look like we imagined! I'm always up for milkshakes too!!

  21. I would say like other have said is getting together we my group. I know we are all busy and it will be difficult to get together at times. I also know that it will work out in the end and everything will come together. The other challenge is the technology part of the project. I am not the best when it comes to working with technology, but with the help of my group we can get it done.

  22. I think my biggest concern with doing group work is actually meeting with the group. Between the 5 of us group members we are all in school full time, I have a full time job plus I live off campus, so things can get a little difficult when it comes to scheduling a meeting. I am also concerned about how to go about doing the project. We want it to look nice and professional but i don't think we know exactly how.

  23. I think my biggest concern with this project is my ability to use the programs. They're all complex and complicated looking and i am only used to powerpoint. I also live off campus, so i think it may be hard to meet with my group before the assignment is due.

  26. After meeting at the Noel Studio my group was super excited about the possibilities. The biggest thing I'm nervous about is our ideas not carrying out the way we planned. We were really ambitious and I just hope we can all meet together and figure out how we can get our ideas across.

  27. Yes, I believe that we will do great this year on our projects. It is going to be so much fun and so resourceful for the deaf or hard of hearing students that are in these classrooms. I hope all of our projects provide great information for students that would like to know more about these historical figures that provided significant help toward the evolution of deaf culture. I think some of the problems our great still may face is that the technology is a little bit concerning and none of us really know how to incorporate captions or signing into our videos. So yes, I think we will all deserve milkshakes after all is said and done. :)

  28. What I am most concerned about with the group project is the technology definitely (getting it to cooperate and getting everything lined out) and having the project portray all the ideas that we have. I am excited though, as I feel like the whole class is going to benefit from each others projects and we are going to gain a lot of knowledge.
